The 14th „Fascinating Models“ exhibtion of Sinsheim ran from 13th to 16th of March 2008.

As the first public exhibition after the trade only Nurnberg fair, the show at Sinsheim was the first opportunity for many modellers to see the new items of 2008. With the moving of the model railways out of halls 4 and 5 into the 10,000 square metre hall 1, the ever popular hobby of railway modelling was shown off to its best effect and the sheer variety of product on show was very impressive.

Of course, PIKO were again represented with a stand. Many of our PIKO friends took the opportunity to admire our products first hand.

With Nurnberg not long gone, there was already a lot of interest in our products, particularly in G Scale with the Beige and Blue BR218 and Hupac Taurus drawing admiring glances from those present. The PIKO G scale was also a crowd puller with its simple and modern geometry demonstrated on a special show chalkboard. Mr Stefan Gerritschen and Mrs. Martina Matthäi spoke of the many advantages of this new track system.

In the HO area, items such as the Saxon rolling stock and am843 Diesel Locomotives were shown on the technology plant.

The new PIKO track plan book was promoted and PIKO fans saw for themselves, the contents of this extensive reference book.

The new PIKO catalogues in both HO and G were well received especially because of the little “surprise” that went with them.

With the starter sets being modern and well known as well as being very attractively priced, beginners and newcomers to the hobby are won by the PIKO model railway systems.

This is an important concern of the Junior College, which was carried out by the BDEF (National Association of German Railway Friends) in Sinsheim which has a target of getting children and young people interested in the hobby of railway modelling.

PIKO were happy to support the BDEF through the provision of track and accessories for their modelling tables as well as sponsorship of the first prize for the winner of the Junior College – a complete PIKO starter set.
