Press Release: World Premiere in Chemnitz: PIKO delights guests from all over Germany with the new TT locomotive BR 91.3 DR

Chemnitz, May 27, 2026 – Great response, enthusiastic guests and an overwhelmingly positive atmosphere characterized the official premiere event for the new BR 91.3 DR steam locomotive in TT scale by PIKO Spielwaren GmbH on May 27, 2026 at Schauplatz Eisenbahn.

Visitors from all over Germany traveled to attend the event. The limited tickets were completely sold out. Among the guests were numerous model railway enthusiasts as well as representatives of the trade press, specialist retailers and various media organizations. Radio and television crews, including MDR and Sachsen-TV, also covered the world premiere on site. They took the opportunity to experience the elaborately developed new design live for the first time in the authentic atmosphere of the historic railway depot.

The focus of the event was the ceremonial presentation of the BR 91.3 steam locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in TT scale. In addition, guests received insights into the already released variants of the class in H0 and G scales. This impressively highlighted the versatility and significance of the BR 91.3 within the current PIKO range.

In addition to the vehicle presentation, the event offered numerous opportunities for personal exchange with representatives of PIKO Spielwaren GmbH and the museum in Chemnitz. CEO Rainer Landwehr, Product Manager Matthias Fröhlich as well as Museum Director Dr. Claudius Noack and his team were available to guests for technical discussions, background information, as well as photo and film recordings.

Particularly well received were the live recording of a new episode of the popular series “PIKO kurz & kompakt – Fröhlich erklärt” as well as the guided tours through the railway depot. Sunny weather and the special atmosphere of the venue gave the entire day a memorable setting and encouraged in-depth discussions and personal encounters among the guests.

The new BR 91.3 DR in TT scale will be delivered to specialist retailers at the end of May. In addition, model railway enthusiasts can look forward to another variant of the popular steam locomotive in ČSD livery within the PIKO TT range later this year.
