Some information about role model:
With increasing power plant capacities and the oil crisis as a catalyst, the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) pushed ahead with the electrification of its railway network and also needed a train locomotive that could be used universally. After commissioning the LEW ‘Hans Beimler’ Hennigsdorf, the only locomotive manufacturer in the GDR, the prototype 212 001-2 was presented at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1982. It is also known as the ‘White Lady’ because of its unique paintwork. From 1984, the 243 series locomotives intended for passenger and medium-heavy goods train services were delivered in series. At its peak, the DR fleet comprised 640 locomotives. After reunification, the locomotives were gradually reclassified as class 143s. When DB AG was founded in 1994, all of the locomotives had already been reclassified and were in service throughout Germany. With the introduction of the further developed class 112.1, whose maximum speed was 160 km/h and the new division into business units, the locomotives of the class 143 with their maximum speed of 120 km/h were only used in local transport. They were withdrawn from this area of operation in the last
