Some information about the prototype:

The T 9.3 class tank locomotives were used for both passenger and freight trains, initially with a top speed of 60 km/h, later increased to 65 km/h. The first of the 2,060 locomotives built for the Prussian State Railways was completed in 1901 by the Königsberg Union Foundry. In 1925, the DRG incorporated a large number of these locomotives into its fleet, reclassifying them as 91.3-18 and 91.20. These engines were an advancement of the Prussian T 9.2 and can be visually distinguished primarily by their Krauss-Helmholtz bogie, which replaced the Adams axle. After 1945, the locomotives were gradually retired from regular service, with retirements completed by 1964 at the DB and by 1971 at the DR. During World War II, some locomotives ended up in Poland, Austria, Finland, and Russia. Today, several are preserved as museum locomotives in Münster, Dresden, and Berlin. One T 9.3 is operational at the Minden Railway Museum.
