29.09.2023 Press release PIKO surprise novelty modell - hobby - spiel | The BR S499.02 as TT model
On Friday, 29.09.2023, the modell - hobby - spiel in Leipzig opened its doors to visitors. Numerous fans of technology, games and model railways came to take a look at the exhibitors' stands, gather new ideas, exchange information and, of course, take a look at the latest innovations.
A special surprise novelty could be marvelled at by the Sonneberg model railway manufacturer PIKO. This had already been announced on social media before the fair. On the posting, a covered model could be seen on a track, together with the hint that a new moulded novelty in TT gauge would be presented at the trade fair in Leipzig on Friday at 14:00.
Attracted by this, numerous visitors, end customers as well as specialist dealers and representatives of the press, came to the stand of PIKO Spielwaren GmbH in Hall 3 at the aforementioned time in order not to miss this special event. There, the TT model of the Czech electric locomotive class S499.02 was presented on a small diorama and accompanied by a few words from PIKO product manager, Mr. Matthias Fröhlich. Only at the beginning of the year, PIKO had announced the locomotive in nominal size H0 and delivered it directly in the first quarter. The successor of the famous "Laminátka" (also to be found in the PIKO range in H0 and TT) also convinces in the smaller scale with a successful implementation, ideally reproduced proportions with fine engravings, free-standing handrails, filigree metal pantographs as well as many light and digital functions. The lights in the driver's cab and engine room perfectly set the scene for the detailed equipment.
The electric locomotive is released by PIKO as an analogue non-sound as well as a digital sound model with PIKO SmartDecoder XP Sound. Thanks to the modern Next18 interface, the retrofitting of a digital decoder is also possible without any problems for the non-sound version. The models can be ordered now directly from PIKO and from specialist dealers and will be delivered before the end of the year.
